New Beginnings
If you're reading this, hi! This is my very first post on my brand new blog here!
I have to say, I'm quite impressed with Pagecord so far. It seems ideal for a capable yet "simple" writing setup, which is exactly what I need. I have other sites but far too often find myself messing around with the setup rather than doing any actual writing. It's going to be nice to have somewhere free from all of that.
I'm a huge fan of the smaller community spaces (hello Indieweb) on the internet too, so this place absolutely fits my vibe. Plus in the context of the internet as a whole, being UK based (though not in Scotland) it's a local service. It's nice to support local things!
I'll be honest, I'm not actually completely sure what the overall theme of this blog will be, or how frequently I'll be able to post. I just know that for a long time, I've wanted a space where I'm free to spill my thoughts onto the page, in whatever shape they may take.
I've also been thinking of dabbling in some creative writing. I am far from a professional writer, but I've dabbled in the past. Mostly with blogging and a little bit of creative writing that I've kept to myself. I've always wanted to have a serious go at it but have never quite managed to get there. As a middle aged woman I'm well aware that time waits for no man (or woman in this case), so what better time than now. If nothing else, a dedicated blog will help encourage me to write, and serve as a space where I can develop the skill as I go.
Maybe I don't really need a theme? It's not like I'm expecting to get paid for this and I don't expect to have hordes of readers, especially not right at the start of my journey. I'm an expert in putting needless pressure on myself, so although I'd like this endeavour to help improve my writing, I'd also like to enjoy it. Short posts, long posts, it doesn't really matter so long as I'm writing as regularly as I'm able to.
With all of these things in mind, I'll be moving forward with the premise that this is just a quiet space for my thoughts, reflections, words and a sprinkling of creativity.
I'm excited to see where this journey leads!
